Examples of Work

The first-level nursing position is responsible for the following responsibilities: administering medication and other prescribed treatments, taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors, and participating in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. Educates patients on care and engages in communication with families, patients, and physicians. Transport and/or escort to offsite appointments may be provided, as well as the application of restraints when necessary. CNAs are assisted by mentors and delegates.

Minimum Requirements

A Certificate from an Approved School of Nursing, licensure as an LPN, and 0-4 years of experience are typically necessary.
